Incredible.
I hope he wins.
He probably won’t - he’d have to significantly improve on his personal best time to even be in contention for a medal - but in some ways, he already has.
Dude was born without fibulas. And now he’s in the Olympics. Not the Paralympics (although those athletes are super badass as well) but the main Olympics.
And yes, I saw the Sports Illustrated piece about how Oscar Pistorius’ prosthetic legs give him an “advantage” over the human legs in the field, but you know what?
He’s a double-amputee from the knee down. He had to train and fight and go through everything every other Olympian did, and more, to get to London - and he did it without legs, so I just can’t get on board with complaining he has an unfair advantage.
People always have to find something to hate on but come on. If someone can’t have their own legs to run on, I’m totally cool with them getting a pair of Cheetah Flex-Feet even if they are, mechanically speaking, “better.”
It’s unbelievable that today’s technology has made that possible, and it’s really, really cool to watch it in action. So you go, Blade Runner, and do the damn thing.
